Ingredients
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
3/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
1 cup of finely chopped walnuts
1 cup of chopped dates
2 cups powdered sugar
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350. Line 7" x 11" pan with wax paper (including the sides, not just the bottom)
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in medium bowl.
Beat eggs, sugar and melted butter until well blended, smooth and pale in color.
Gradually add flour mixture, until thoroughly combined. Stir in dates and walnuts.
Pour batter into lined pan and back for 20 - 25 minutes, or until nicely browned, but not too dark. A toothpick inserted into the middle should come out clean.
Immediately invert pan onto clean work surface, remove wax paper and allow to cool for 5 minutes. Pour powdered sugar in large bowl. Cut into 2" x 1" bars, roll in powdered sugar to cover completely.
Serve warm, or store in air-tight container for up to 3 days. Also freezes quite well.
