Ingredients
1/4 cup chopped pecans / walnuts
3 Tbs butter
1 large onion, sliced
1/4 tsp ground cloves
4 thin slices of liver (abt 1/2 lb)
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
Preparation
Stir pecans in heavy large skillet over medium heat until slightly darker in color, about 2 min. Transfer nuts to small bowl. Melt 1 1/2 Tbs butter in same skillet. Add onion and saute until golden brown. Add half cloves and saute 1 min longer. Season with salt and pepper. Transfer onion to a plate.
Melt remaining butter in same skillet. Sprinkle liver with remaining cloves, salt and pepper. Saute liver until brown about 2 min on each side. Transfer liver to plates. Add balsamic vinegar, pecans and onion to skillet and stir 1 min. Spoon onion mixture on top of liver and serve with mashed potatoes.
