cup sugar

cup fresh lemon juice (from 4 to 6 lemons)

Preparation
In 1-quart saucepan, heat 1 cup of the water and the sugar to boiling. Stir until sugar dissolves. Allow to cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
In pitcher, mix sugar-water mixture, lemon juice and remaining 2 1/2 cups water. Cover and refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour. Add ice; serve with lemon slices.
