Ingredients

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup milk

3/4 stick unsalted butter (room temp)

2 eggs

1 1/2 cup flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/8 tsp salt

1 grated lemon peel

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup lemon juice

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350. Grease & flour a 9x5" loaf pan. Combine first 4 ingredients in medium bowl & mix well. Blend in dry ingredients in medium bowl & mix well. Blend in dry ingredients & lemon zest. Turn into pan & bake 1 hour. Let cool slightly, remove from pan & set on piece of foil. Pour hot lemon glaze over surface. Let bread cool completely before serving.

Lemon glaze - Combine sugar & lemon juice in small saucepan. Place over low heat & stir until sugar disolves & glaze is quite hot.
