Ingredients
meatballs:
2 tbsp chopped garlic
2 tbsp chopped onion
2 tbsp grated ginger
2 tbsp cumin
2 tsp salt & 2 tsp pepper
1 1/2 lb ground lamb
1 egg
1 cup breadcrumbs
Sauce:
1 1/2 cups (14 oz.) Greek yogurt
1 lemon zest, shredded
2 tbsp chopped mint
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp course salt
1/2 tbsp chopped garlic
Preparation
In a large bowl, combine spices, egg, garlic and onion. Add meat and then add breadcrumbs gradually (use less than 1 cup of breadcrumbs if the mixture is dry) and gently combine with hands until spices are just evenly distributed. Do not overmix.
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Gently roll meat into either large (2 inch) or small (1 inch)and fry in oil until browned; remove and dry with paper towels, then place on a baking pan, and place in oven for 10 minutes.
Serve with yogurt sauce & pitas.
