Ingredients
1.5 oz of tequila (use a good white tequila - not the cheapest, not a reposada - Don Julio Blanco is highly recommended
.75 oz of Cointreau (or make it a Cadillac Margarita with Drambuie)
.75 oz of freshly squeezed lime juice (key limes work best)
.75 oz of sugar syrup
Preparation
You can make this in the blender, but we prefer them shaken - frozen Margaritas are for tourists!
If you would like the rim salted (optional) rub a piece of lime around the rim of an old-fashioned glass and dip into salt. Fill the glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker pour the tequila, lime juice, Cointreau and sugar syrup and shake. (If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, just pour the ingredients back and forth between two cups).
Pour into the glass over the ice and garnish with a piece of lime.
