Ingredients

For Cake:

3 Cups All-Purpose Flour

1 tsp. Baking Powder

1 tsp. Salt

1/2 tsp. Baking Soda

1 Cup of Butter (creamed)

2 Cups of Sugar

4 Eggs

1 Cup Buttermilk

2 tsp. Pure Vanilla

For Butter Sauce:

1 Cup Sugar

1/4 Cup Water

1/2 Cup Real Butter

1 T. Vanilla (rum flavoring)

Preparation

Cake: Sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Cream the butter. Gradually add sugar; cream well. Blend in the 4 unbeaten eggs, one at a time. Combine the buttermilk and vanilla. Add alternately with dry ingredients to a cream mixture beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Blend well after each addition (with electric mixer- use low speed) Turn into 10" tube pan, greased on bottom (angel food pan). Bake at 325 for 60-65 minutes or until done. (Cake springs back when touched in center.) Prick cake (still hot) with fork. Pour sauce over cake and cool before removing from pan.

Butter Sauce: Combine the sugar, water, and butter in pan. Heat until butter is melted. Do not boil. Add vanilla/rum flavoring.
