Ingredients

1/3 # bacon (thick cut black pepper bacon is the best)

1 large onion-chopped

2 x large cans Bush’s baked beans

2 x 15 oz cans butter beans

2 x 15 oz cans kidney beans

1 c. ketchup

2 t. dried mustard

¼ c. dark brown sugar

2 T. apple cider vinegar

smoked chipotle powder to taste

Preparation

  • Chop bacon into small bits and fry in a large dutech oven until crisp. Remove bacon, reserve fat.

  • Saute onion in bacon drippings in same pan.

  • Add all the cans of beans and remaining ingredients. Bring to boil on stove top.

  • Stir bacon bits back into pot. Then cover and bake at 325 until thickened and bubbling – about an hour.
