Ingredients
1 1/2 Sticks butter
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
2 c. flour
3/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/3 c.water
Frosting:
6 Tbsp. butter
2 2/3 c .powdered sugar
1/3 c. milk (may need a little more)
1 tsp. Vanilla
Preparation
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat 1 minute on medium speed. In seperate bowl combine flour, cocoa, soda and salt. Add this alternately with water to creamed mixture. Pour into 2 greased and floured 8-9" cake pans. Bake 35-40 minutes in pre-heated 350 degree oven for 35-40 minutes. When done cool in pans for 10 minutes. Remove from pans and cool completely. Frosting: Cream butter, then add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth. May need to add another tsp.or two of milk. When cake it cool, frost.
