Ingredients
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 cup seedless raisins
2 tsp. caraway seeds
2 tbsp white vinegar
3/4 cup milk
Preparation
Sift flour with baking soda, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in butter until fine. Stir in raisins and caraway seeds. Make a center well in dough. Mix together milk and vinegar and pour all at once into center well. Stir with fork until all ingredients are moistened.
Turn onto lightly floured board, and knead gently about 10 times.
Shape into a round and place in round pie plate or cast iron fry pan. Cut a cross from side to side in dough.

Brush with milk.
Bake at 400 for 15 minutes. Lower oven to 375 and bake for 30 minutes more.
